Not quite sure whether a gold foiling or a matt lamination would look good on your next business cards? Confused about what colour to use on the next menus?

This area of our website has been put together to try and help customers from a design and technical point of view.

Print is a complex issue with colours, formats, design and finishing all playing a part not only in regards to cost but equally the quality of the end product. We have built a small gallery of just some of our most recent work which we hope will inspire and advise.

If you would like to discuss any of your print requirements either from a design or technical aspect, please do not hesitate to contact your account manager or pay us a visit and meet the design production team in person.

Business Stationery standard sizing and print specification

Standard size of a business card is 85mm x 55mm on 340gsm - 350gsm, letter heads are normally A4 - 210mm x 297mm on uncoated 100gsm - 120gsm. Standard compliment slips are the same as letter heads uncoated.

There isn’t a standard finish however many choose a silk finish as this gives it a professional finish. Other options may include a matt or gloss lamination, foiling or embossing to add that extra wow factor.

Flyers and Brochure standard sizing and print specification

Standard size of a flyer is A5 - 148mm x 210mm on 130gsm - 150gsm, often seen as takeaway menus, price listings, insert advertising etc.
Brochures/magazines normally have thicker outer pages 200gsm covers and 120gsm inner pages uncoated.

Booklets and Folders standard sizing and print specification

Booklets can be any size, the most cost efficient sizing is standard 'A' sizing for example A5 and A4. There are many different ways of doing a booklet from the binding eg. perfect bound to wire binding. Need to learn more about the types of finishing please see our technical page. Normally booklets are made with thicker outer pages to keep the thinner inner pages in good condition.

There are many finishes to choose from...

Ranging from foiling to embossing. If you need more of an explanation of our finishing options please see our technical page. If you are unsure what finish would work best or be the most cost effective then we will more than happy to guide you.
